Jacó Beach:“for good swimmers”

Jacó Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica due to its proximity to the country’s capital city. It is located in the Canton of Garabito. Because of its closeness to the Central Valley, the two miles long straight stretch of Jacó Beach is frequented not only by tourist and surfers from all over the world, it is also the most popular beach for the young Costa Rican crowd. The gayish yellow sand beach has a surf with its strong waves and is perfect for surfers but only recommended for good swimmers since strong currents claim victims almost every year.

Jacó is a town that exclusively lives from tourism but has a complete infrastructure with hospital, hardware stores, supermarkets and endless restaurants, hotels, casinos, discos and cabins, for any budget from. We recommend Jacó plainly for beach life, sunbathing, beach games, beach walks, beach horse back rides or for young families, on a small to medium budget and to surfers. For all nature tours you have to drive a little. You can enjoy some of the backlands if you take a horseback ride up to the hills, that offer beautiful views and lots of wildlife.

Jacó Beach is the ideal starting point for those who want to enjoy an exciting and thrilling experience in the Pacific Coast. Passing through the mountains planted with coffee, enjoying fascinating scenery and a great tropical weather, Jacó is just one and a half hour from San José; and here you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in Central America.

There you will find an always increasing number of accommodations, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, galleries, camping areas make the visit very interesting, tour operators and facilities that will perfectly fulfill your most demanding needs. You can have lunch in restaurants with a fantastic views, enjoy a night dance in a disco by the seaside or if you prefer just have a romantic walk across three miles of beach known for its water sports, surf and the beautiful sunsets.

For sun and sea lovers, sun bathing, surf, parasailing, diving and fishing are just some of the options. Nature enthusiasts can opt for horse riding, rock climbing or visit Carara Biological Reserve and enjoy amazing wildlife, all in the surrounding areas. By the end of the day, just relax and enjoy a mar villous sunset.

The most amazing panoramic views can be seen all around the place, with palm trees, hammocks and chairs where you can rest while you take the sun or relax reading a good book. If you are looking for a little more adrenaline and exercise, you can find tennis courts, beach volleyball tournaments or you can rent a bike or horse and do some self guided tour through the place. Sport fishing, surfing and many other water sports are there just waiting for you.
