I've been living 5 years in Medellin and have now even moved to the countryside about 1 hour drive from Medellin living on a finca and I can confirm that it is absolutely very safe over here. And for your information there's a real rush of gringo's on Medellin, it seems you are trying to swim against the stream ! Everywhere where I come I meet Americans and Europeans and yes it is cheap, especially real estate !
