Not only are retirees attracted to Costa Rica but the rich and famous have discovered the wonders of tiquicia (another name for Costa Rica).
Over the years hundreds of luminaries have visited Costa Rica and a few like Mel Gibson have even purchased real estate. Madonna, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Bill Gates, Mathew McConaughey, Will Smith, Tom Brady, Pink and scores more have traveled here. It seems that Costa Rica is the buzz word in the U.S. and almost everybody knows someone who has visited and raves about the place. In fact, you never hear any bad news about the country in the U.S. media. As we say here, “Solo Bueno” (only good) when the country is mentioned which can not be said about many places around in this troubled world.
Recently, actor Jude Law and actresses Lindsay Lohan and Selena Gómez visited the country. As long as Costa Rica’s virtually untarnished reputation remains intact not only the famous but potential retirees and other expats will continue to visit.
On my monthly relocation/retirement tours I have clients from all over the U.S., Canada and even as far away as Europe and New Zealand who envision living here because of all of the country has to offer: one of the best year-round climates in the world, affordable medical care, friendly people, a reasonable cost of living, most of the conveniences found at home, good Internet and satellite TV, low utility bills, affordable public transportation, no army or threat of terrorism and a whole lot more.
The country is by no means perfect but the positives far outweigh any negatives. The only danger of coming here is that you may never return home.
