You might need a little more than $1,300 to retire here. If you get your degree you can probably find work teaching English.

Hi Will. I to own property in Puntarenas province and have to pay taxes on property. I was wondering if you have found a simple way of doing this? I have depended on my real estate guy in the past but think he wishes to stop doing so.

Thanks for the helpful tip. Would you happen to know if there are any ropa americana stores in Jaco and/or Tamarindo, where I will be studying Spanish in January/February and I don't actually have much by way of warm weather clothing and cannot affort to shop at regular stores.

Thanks very much for any advice you can offer, and Happy New Year!

Planning a tourist visit to Pura Vida. Wondering if the Costa Rican ticos have a community seder to which tourist visitors might be welcome. My calendar says Pesach 2012 is also a Shabbos event. My hometown schul was Shaare Zion ("The Gates of Zion"), so I was somewhat surprised that in San Jose there is a similarly titled synagogue. Just curious. Have been to Costa Rica and enjoyed the visit. Being "echod ha'olom," I thought enjoying a community seder abroad again would be another interesting adventure coupled with an eco-tour of Costa Rico during Pesach. Thanks for responding!
